+ SCHUMACHER'S WINNING CAR - The Ferrari F1 F2000
The F1 F2000 was Ferrari’s glorious and significant new design for the new millennium and its victories would represent the birth of a special and dominant era both for Michael Schumacher and Ferrari. The F2000 achieved considerable success, enabling Ferrari to win the Constructor’s Championship, and Ferrari and Michael Schumacher to win the Driver’s Championship, a coveted award which returned to Ferrari after a 21-year absence through 10 wins and three one-two finishes. From this point on, Ferrari never looked back and the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 F1 Ferraris were all evolutions of the successful Ferrari F2000.
Technical Information
The F2000 was designed to be as efficient as possible with a raised front nose and clean body lines. The technical innovations included the lowering of the centre of gravity and the use of new materials. The 049 engine, a step forward from the 048, was a 90-degree unit and its weight was substantially reduced from that of the pervious year’s model. These changes produced a very drivable, powerful car capable of excelling on all the F1 circuits.
